| Description | General Psychology is a survey of the major psychological topics, theories and approaches to the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. | |||||||||||||||

| Instructor Policies |
Preferred Method of Contact: The quickest way to reach me is at hernandezea@lamarpa.edu using your lscpa.edu email. I will respond within 24 hours between Monday-Friday. Do not use personal emails as those will be filtered as SPAM. I am not always available on the weekends, so I will make weekend assignments available early after module 1 in case you have questions ahead of time. Assignment Availability Policy: Assignments will be available from Day 1 at 8:00AM to Day 2 11:30PM. All assignments scheduled for that week will be due by end of day (EOD) with no exception (11:30PM). Assignments will be made available by module so that grades can be updated frequently, and students can review feedback. There is a small grace period from 11:31PM-11:59PM to turn in assignments, but I expect assignments turned in no later than 11:30PM. Assignments are available early with the intention that you are managing your time and working little by little. Make-up Policy: Late work will NOT be accepted with the only exception being documented emergencies. If such an emergency occurs, contact the instructor immediately and be prepared to provide proof of the emergency. Otherwise, complete all assignments within the module or on the required due date. Missed assignments are assigned a grade of 0. Missed Assignment Extension Policy: Missed assignments are considered LATE. See the makeup work policy above. “Technical difficulties” or “Blackboard not working” are not acceptable excuses (unless there is a CAMPUS WIDE outage). If you request an extension due to technical difficulties, you need to send the following: 1) an email describing the problem a minimum of 24 hours before the assignment is due 2) A forwarded Help Desk ticket with a ticket #. If you are unable to email these requirements, consider the assignment LATE, and a 0. Note that the Help Desk is closed on Holidays which is why I do not have assignments due on Holidays. Acceptable File Formats for Assignments: I will NOT accept assignments via email. There is an increased risk of getting viruses by downloading attachments. All assignments MUST be submitted in BlackBoard. BlackBoard is compatible with doc, docx, rtf, and pdf file formats. Do NOT submit Google Docs or Pages formatted assignments. Assignments in those formats will receive a 0. I will assign a 0 and leave a comment to submit the correct file format. I will not chase you down for your assignments. Generative AI Warning: Students are expected to complete their assignments using their own knowledge and skills, without the assistance of AI generative tools. The use of such tools, including but not limited to language models and other automated writing software, is strictly prohibited. Any violation of this policy will result in a penalty, up to and including a failing grade for the assignment and/or the course. Be aware that have expertise in machine learning and data analytics and be aware I can program in languages such as Python (which is what many generative AI softwares use). I have experience in creating these models myself and have done my programming and coding to create AI models and can recognize text written by a computer. Please do not be that person that makes me commute to Port Arthur to arrange a meeting with the Dean for an academic integrity violation. |

Communication for this class will occur through the Q&A discussion forum (using student accounts in BLACKBOARD) and postings to the Announcements page inside your BLACKBOARD course. It is a good idea to check the ANNOUNCEMENTS page for messages daily. It is OK to send emails to me at hernandezea@lamarpa.edu as a follow-up if you have not received a response in BLACKBOARD. I recommend downloading the NEW Blackboard App (Blackboard Student) to your smartphone as it will send you notifications of ANNOUNCEMENTS and deadlines. I expect you to read the assigned readings and complete the assignments within the designated window and deadlines. I expect that you will consult this syllabus, assignment guidelines, rubrics, as well as Blackboard announcements, before emailing me or scheduling an appointment during office hours. I will do my best to respond to emails within 48 hours between Monday and Friday during the hours of 9:00am-6:00pm (I do not respond to emails during the weekend), but I typically only respond to emails once a day, so please do not expect an instantaneous response to your email. |
